The story of a quilt....

Amy is having another Blogger's Quilt Festival....

so I thought that I would enter my recent favorite quilt......

The tree quilt....

The quilt is done!

with a bit of a story!

Some of you may all ready know this one (shhhh!)...

Wonky trees... on my design wall (aka french door)

For the past few years, I had been making a quilt to be auctioned off in January
to raise funds for JDRF (an organization dear to my heart since
my youngest child "Sugarbaby" was diagnosed Thanksgiving Day 2005 with type 1 diabetes)....

free pieced trees

and so the days leading up to the annual gala was a blur of black and white and green and turquoise....

On my wall.. adding wonky flying geese

and when it was done...

I think I can, I think I can!!!!

we were sad to see if it leave...

The quilt is done!

but all ended well when Mr. U brought it home to us...

It's home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and so.....
I can walk by it each and every day!!!!!

The tree quilt hangs in our hallway..

The End!

At home with my sewing utensils!  great story, huh? Now go check out all the other quilts at Amy's
and have a good weekend!

  5. I remember seeing this one before and I still love it. The black and white really makes the green "pop". I also love the turquoise border. It is perfect. I also love how you alternated the black and white on the green for the border, so creative. It is obvious this quilt was made with lots of heart!

  13. I love the green and aqua against the black and white! And what a great story! Reminds me of that cheesy quote: "If you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was." Never thought to apply that to a QUILT!

  15. Isn't it fun to make a charity quilt and then win it back--you get to feel extra virtous and have a cool quilt to boot. My antique repro quilt on
    http://starleyquilts.blogspot.com
was made for a charity that helps children whose parents have mental illness.
I also have a 1890 double pink star

Do the wonky trees remind you of your Canadian roots LOL I am a Western Canadian and I have often thought about making a wonky tree quilt for Christmas. I love the flying geese border too.
    Enjoy the festival.
